Over the past two weeks, widespread inaccuracies have been reported in the press about the bopaboo business model that subsequently set-off a flurry of speculation. While we are grateful for the excitement generated by the coverage and the hoards of potential users who have requested access, new business partners, advisors, and content partners; we want to clarify certain misconceptions.

The basic concept of bopaboo is to create the next-generation digital music community that places you, the consumer, first! Through bopaboo, you will be able to purchase new tracks from the top artists of our time, but then have the freedom to sell those songs you no longer wish to keep, thus allowing you to buy more music!

Until now, there hasn’t been a legitimate means or incentive for users to abandon illegal file sharing networks. We believe that bopaboo, with a more compelling market-driven solution and robust user experience provides the safe and legal alternative to the proliferation of P2P.

To curb further public misunderstanding of our business, we want to make it amply clear that we are in private beta by invitation only, designed for the sole purpose of assuring that all of our systems are in place, are stable, and most importantly to measure user interest and behavior. To that end, we have revised the public view of our site and continue to limit access to qualified beta testers only. We thank everyone for the tremendous user demand and promise to provide you with the most compelling digital music solution you have ever seen after our public launch in 2009.

Importantly, bopaboo is not ignoring the right of the copyright-holders. We had always envisioned that our model would include an appropriate arrangement with copyright holders. We are encouraged by our meetings with content providers so far and look forward to completing those arrangements. Look for further announcements relating to our experienced management team and advisors, as well as partnerships with key content providers!

We’re looking for someone who’ll be responsible for creating elegant user interfaces that will enhance the user experience and usage of our site. This includes the look-and-feel, information flow, and visual design that meet the needs of our target customers including people who are less familiar with Web 2.0 sites.
Can you develop user interface specifications, create pixel-perfect mock-ups, and work closely with engineers to implement the designs?
Do you like to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment where you can make things happen quickly?
Can you not only enhance the user experience, but also test of designs with formal and informal usability testing?

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
• A minimum of three years experience in user experience and visual design of high-traffic Web sites
• A passion for clean design
• Experience with user-centered design and Web 2.0/social sites (like Flickr, YouTube and Facebook)
• Ability to integrate Web standards, usability principles and scalability into designs
• Strong experience designing user interfaces and producing pixel-perfect mock-ups
• A great portfolio and strong self-motivation

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re looking for a software engineer to join our Java back-end team. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing and maintaining existing and new features. You will be responsible for the software stack that ranges from the database definition (SQL) all the way up to our Ajax API as used by our frontend engineers.

This is a hands-on position: you will be expected to deliver production quality code within a reasonable schedule. You will be part of a hard working team, dedicated to provide our users the ultimate ease of use and convenience.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

* 5+ Years of Experience (Web 2.0/Ecommerce a plus)
* Strong expertise with SQL and Java,
* Some experience scaling applications through MySQL
* Proficiency with client side technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) a plus.
