A very warm welcome to all and specifically our lucky bopaboo Private Beta members. We have some great things in store for bopaboo and we very much want you to take part in creating a new digital music marketplace.

We want this blog to be a place where matters that are worthy to you are discussed, for example, topics concerning our product, the success of our marketplace, reasons for important decisions we’ve made, and important industry trends impacting what we do.

Hopefully by now, you’ve requested a Private Beta Invitation at bopaboo.com. You may want to do so right away – as only a limited number of consumers will have access to the marketplace before our public launch. If you are curious about the people behind bopaboo, you are just going to have to patient - but it just may surprise you!

When we began bopaboo, we set for ourselves not a modest challenge: can we provide consumers a legal method and marketplace to Buy and Sell digital music? Can we assist recording labels in the quest to decrease interest in peer-to-peer file sharing? And in doing so, can we build a profitable company that enables us to continue to create value for all consumers? These are important goals for us and we look forward to delivering on our mission.

It’s our genuine hope that you will engage us in the worthy discussions we have here, and in other ways, at the start of our exciting journey. We are delighted that you are here! Please stay tuned in because we are getting ready to make some noise!

Vice President of Marketing

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for growing the bopaboo customer base and achieving revenue and sales objectives. The primary focus is on achieving all company online sales and membership objectives for the bopaboo marketplace. He/she will be accountable for all aspects of customer acquisition, strategic planning, advertising, customer communications, partnership marketing, promotions, and PR activities. Additional areas of responsibility include driving the website roadmap and purchase process, product pricing and bundling, and overall layout and messaging.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
•Achieve membership and revenue targets to profitably increase market share through conceptualization, execution, and management of customer acquisition and retention initiatives
•Oversee all advertising efforts, including web media, SEM, SEO, affiliate marketing, blog marketing, promotions and merchandising, and partner marketing across both online and offline channels
•Organize and lead marketing, PR, marketing communications, and partnership marketing in achieving key business objectives while managing budget
•Increase the value of the customer base by increasing new member conversion rates, cross-selling and up-selling
•Develop deep insight into customer needs and incorporate learning into acquisition and retention strategies across online and interactive channels
•Manage PR team, including corporate, product, and consumer public relations efforts
•Work closely with the Product team to improve and differentiate the user experience across the website and music service features
•Produce and analyze key trend reports measuring the performance of online campaigns to optimize online channel efficiency and maximize channel ROI
•Analyze attrition rates and develop retention plans, product enhancements, and engagement strategies to encourage customer loyalty and participation
•Develop brand strategy, manage offline and online brand presence, including brand licensing
•Manage all marketing communications, including consumer messaging, email and newsletter campaigns, in-product and upgrade opportunities, promotions, company blog, viral marketing, etc.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
•Proven track record of successfully leading marketing, acquisition and retention teams and will have at least 10 years marketing and/or general management experience, preferably with e-commerce business models; digital media/music experience a HUGE plus
•Managed customer acquisition and loyalty teams in a successful, growing consumer-focused organization and can prioritize initiatives with a strong ROI focus
•Excellent organizational, statistical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, analytical, written and oral presentation skills. Must have a passion about numbers, market indicators, and metrics – and have the analytical skills to translate hard data into insight and action
•Demonstrated success with all aspects of online partnerships – term negotiation, agreement execution, and ongoing partner management
•Superior team development and management skills, experience with budget and timeline development, and seasoned experience in all aspects of the marketing mix within the consumer space
•Exceptional judgment and decision-making. Ability to make decisions within a fast-paced environment, communicate rationale, and take action
•Must be resourceful, self-motivated, and able to be successful in a non-traditional, fun, entrepreneurial team-based environment
•BA or BS degree or equivalent, MBA desired
•Good natured, sociable, creative, and diligent individual who is driven, detail-oriented, and dedicated
•Strong understanding of digital music/media a plus
•Individual should be passionate about music!

Director of Business Development

ABOUT THE ROLE:
As the VP/Director of Business Development you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, developing and executing strategic relationships in support of the business. The ideal candidate will help drive the strategy and execution of marketing partnerships including developing relationships with media outlets, television networks, consumer brands, the music industry and more. You will also play a critical role in the acquisition of new customers and members for bopaboo. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly understand and get their arms around complex business concepts, generate ideas for partnership, and build relationships based on value to both parties.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Responsible for the identification, assessment, and execution of strategic high level relationships as well as the operational implementation of business development agreements.
- Manage all inbound Business Development contacts including the prioritization of opportunities.
- Oversee market analysis and competitive activity in the licensed content industry.
- Establish relationships with market leaders that drives rapid growth and the value to our community.
- Develop the financial/operating models that will be used to evaluate deals for revenue, profitability, customer and traffic growth.
- Work with internal teams to ensure organizational understanding of Business Development strategies and partner needs.
- Responsible for high level business term and contract negotiations.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- 5+ years of experience in licensing and business development with an emphasis in media, entertainment, licensing and technology. Must have identified and structured strategic partnerships resulting is significant benefit to both parties.
- In-depth knowledge of the internet industry: its market leaders, industry trends and “who’s who”, especially within the B2C segment, is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build long term and lasting relationships with key industry players.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects while working under pressure to deliver.
- Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to lead through reports, presentations and forecasts.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills: must be able to present effectively at the executive level
- Sharp, articulate, high energy, team player who can think outside the box to generate ideas and solutions.
- Bachelors degree is required, a Masters degree is strongly preferred.
- Start-up experience a Huge plus

Director of Finance/Controller

ABOUT THE ROLE:

bopaboo is seeking a hands-on Director of Finance/Controller to manage the accounting function. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the company’s financial records. The Director of Finance will collaborate with team members to analyze company’s financial position with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budget, reporting findings and making recommendations to senior management.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

* Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting.
* Analyze company’s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets and issue regular status reports to senior management.
* Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting, ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles.
* Develop and maintain controls for processes related to internal controls and information flow.
* Assist senior management in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
* Coordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
* Coordinate and/or prepare tax schedules, returns and information.
* Coordinate and prepare year-end audit as well as any internal reviews or audits.
* Preparation of monthly board package at least one week prior to board meetings.
* Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable
* Maintenance of Stock Option Plan and Stock Certificate tracking.
* Review legal contracts and conduct contract negotiations as necessary.
* Maintain all company contracts.
* Work with HR and the management team to develop effective compensation programs.
* Analyze and control all figures in relation to profitability and performance against budget and/or forecast.
* Facilitate all relationships with lending/financial institutions and state bodies and outside tax accountants.
* Conduct ROI Analysis for specific business cases.
* Lead the accounting system conversion project.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

•BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related major. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
•10+ years of general accounting experience with prior director/controller level experience.
•Strong technical accounting background with a solid understanding of US GAAP.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Thorough knowledge of IRS reporting requirements.
•Excel power user.
•Excellent time management, communications, decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Prior system conversion experiences a plus.
•Experience with QuickBooks
•Knowledge of Indian tax laws is desirable, but not required.
•Start-up experience is highly desirable.
